What are the OSHA Medical Occurrence categories. It has been a while and I am having difficulty finding the answer online. I have a patient who lost the sight of his right eye due to failure to diagnose and failure to treat glaucoma. I believe this is a Cat. 1 OSHA occurrence. Am I correct?

Thank you for writing to us.
The situation you described in your email cannot be categorized as a workplace safety injury to an employee. OSH Act has been passed to protect employees from workplace injuries. Any injury to an employee due to failure to implement safety procedures at the workplace, by the employer, is considered a recordable or reportable offense depending on the seriousness of the injury.
I hope this short reply answers your question lucidly.
